I must confess that it is with a heavy heart that I come to you today. With all the talk of going to War with Iraq. What is our President thinking about? Will you explain that one to me! Does he think that war is the only solution to our economic woes? He surely knows that any kind of war will cost billions of dollars, dollars which we don't have.
And think of the loss of countless numbers of lives. Both of our enemies and of our own sons and daughters. Think of the sadness it will bring to families all over our world and all of this being planned at this blessed season of the year when Jesus, the prince of Peace, was born.
If the idea of war doesn't put a damper on the Christmas Season, nothing will. It brings sadness to my heart to think of all the discomfort it will bring. I can see mothers weeping over the loss of their precious sons and daughters all over the world.
Assuredly there must be a better way! Jesus wasn't among us all that long, but his teachings and his example were certainly a better way in the solution of our problems.
Love God and love your neighbor! What could be any simpler than that?
In the name of God I pray that our leaders will come to their senses!
The Christmas Story
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold , I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
